Aplikasi Mobile iKepoh

Aplikasi Mobile iKepoh merupakan satu inovasi baharu yang dibangunkan oleh KPKT untuk memberi kemudahan kepada orang awam bagi membuat sebarang aduan kepada Majlis Daerah Yan melalui mobile.

Objektif Aplikasi Mobile iKepoh

  • Menjalin hubungan akrab PBT dan rakyat melalui penyediaan saluran aduan yang mesra pengguna dalam memberi perkhidmatan terbaik kepada rakyat; dan
  • Pemantauan dan pengurusan aduan lebih berkesan kepada pengurusan atasan PBT dan KPKT melalui satu sumber sistem yang sama dan mudah dicapai.

Fungsi Aplikasi Mobile iKepoh

  • Membenarkan penghantaran aduan bergambar beserta lokasi secaraMobile;
  • Memberi maklumbalas kepada pengadu dengan lebih responsif; dan
  • Memantau statistik aduan oleh PBT atau JKT melalui dashboard yang disediakan dengan lebih efisien.

Mount Jerai

Pride of Kedah

Seeing from afar, Mount Jerai which is 1,217 meters high looks like an imposing monster guarding the whole state. With a temperature between 19 and 24 degrees celcius, it is a tourist attraction especially to those who wish to relax and enjoy the cool refreshing mountain air.
 

Historical treasure

Mount Jerai is home to several historical sites, among which are Padang Tok Sheikh and Telaga Tok Sheikh.  Tok Sheikh was the person responsible to convert Maharaja Debar Raja 1, later called as Sultan Muzaffar Shah to Islam in 1136.

Just mention the rice bowl of the nation and most people would know it is Kedah Darulaman.  Besides that, this northern state of Peninsular Malaysia also has many things that attract tourists such as beaches, historical places and mountains.

From afar, Mount Jerai which is 1,217 meters high looks like an imposing monster guarding the whole state. With a temperature between 19 and 24 degrees Celcius, it is a tourist attraction especially to those who wish to relax and enjoy the cool refreshing mountain air.

The cool temperature makes it very suitable for recreational activities including trekking and cycling.

During the 4th to 13th century, Mount Jerai was used by Persian, Arab, Chinese and Indian traders as a guide when trading with Kedah.

Mount Jerai is home to a several historical sites, among which are Padang Tok Sheikh and Telaga Tok Sheikh.  Tok Sheikh was the person responsible to convert Maharaja Debar Raja 1, later called as Sultan Muzaffar Shah to Islam in 1136. 

If you come to Mount Jerai, you can see a big boulder that resembles a ship.  

According to legend, the stone was originally a ship belonging to Maharaja Mergong Mahawangsa which was cursed by Sang Kelembai when it docked at Jerai Island which was the original name of the mountain.

Realising the importance of the mountain to the tourism sector, the State Government built lodging and other facilities consisting of 13 chalets, a restaurant, hall, mosque and camping site.

There are quite a number of waterfall areas in Mount Jerai to bathe.  Besides that, the Forestry Museum can also be visited for one to see the jungle treasures.

If you are interested in flora and fauna, you may find many species such as orchids, aquatic insects, butterflies, frogs, birds, pitcher plants and herbal plants.

Gunung Jerai also stores a lot of geological treasures.  In fact the formation of this mountain is said to be the same as Mount Marchincang which is 300 million years old.

Geological items of interest include colourful stones, granite, garnet and monazite.

Being located near the sea, Mount Jerai provides a very captivating highland view.

From the top of the mountain, the view is very fascinating and you can also see the wide padi fields below.  During harvesting season, the plains look like a golden carpet.

You can find many facilities at the top including resting places, toilets, walking paths and recreational areas such as Titi Hayun, Seri Perigi and Batu Hampar.

At Tangga Kenari 1,000 Tahun, visitors can climb the steps and jungle track to the summit passing through Yan district.

The Jejak Warisan Track that begins from Lembah Bujang Archeological Muzeum gives visitors the opportunity to enjoy the natural environment all along it.

If you go to Mount Jerai, you can enjoy many activities such as trekking, mountain climbing, picnicking, camping and motivational courses.

For nature lovers, this area is also suitable for watching birds, insects and the fauna.

- If you come from Kuala Lumpur, use the North-South Highway going to Alor Star and exit at the Gurun Tol.  The distance from Gurun town to the foot of Mount Jerai is about five kilometers.

- The distance from the foot of the mountain to the top is about 13 kilometres and you can use vehicles or motorcycles.

- Transportation service such as van is also provided for a payment of RM60.

- At the foot of the mountain there is parking facilities for cars and buses, surau, toilets and information office.

Mount Jerai, the Landmark of Yan District.

Yan District was officially opened in 1904 or 1324H and is one of the eleven districts in Kedah.  It shares borders with Kota Star, Pendang and Kuala Muda Districts.

The total area of Yan District is 95.01 square miles equivalent to 246.07 sq km.  There are five mukims in Yan District that is, Mukim Yan, Mukim Sala Besar, Mukim Sungai Daun, Mukim Dulang and Mukim Singkir.

Mount Jerai Resort

This Forest Reserve is quite special because it is located at Mount Jerai and is a main highland tourist destination listed by the National Tourist Encouragement Board as a climbing site.

Close to this resort are places with myths and history such as Perigi Tok Sheikh (Tok Sheikh Well), Sejadah Tok Sheikh (Tok Sheikh Praying Mat) and Batu Kapal (Stone Ship).  Also here, one can find tracks connecting to Mount Jerai Resort at the mountain top and tracks going to Titi Hayun Recreation.

At the main entrance is located the Forest Muzeum of Kedah which exhibits various treasures and information about the jungle.
